Ahmedabad Times Fashion Week 2024 off to a dazzling start

Ahmedabad: The much-anticipated Ahmedabad Times Fashion Week 2024, an initiative of The Times of India and the biggest fashion extravaganza in the city, kicked off in grand style on September 13 at the Hyatt Regency, Ahmedabad. The first day set the tone for a thrilling celebration of fashion, with a fusion of heritage, innovation and glamour that captivated audiences.

The opening show, Heritage Patan Patola, was a visual homage to Gujarat’s rich weaving tradition. The Salvi family, custodians of this ancient craft, presented their collection “Ikat Pitara”. The intricate Patola sarees featured motifs like Manek Chowk and Narikunjar, offering a nostalgic nod to the royal past. Neepa and Hetal Salvi, alongside master weaver Kanubhai Salvi, transported the audience to a bygone era, with showstopper Kajal Pisal exuding regal grace in a Patola ensemble. The collection seamlessly blended tradition with contemporary appeal, including lehengas and menswear, ensuring that Patan Patola continues to resonate with modern fashion enthusiasts.

The runway then lit up with Silver Oak Institute of Design’s “Daybreak Collection”. Inspired by the soft glow of dawn, the collection featured a harmonious blend of indigo, white and peach, reflecting serenity and optimism. Natural dyes and flowing silhouettes added a touch of eco-conscious elegance to the show. The young designers at Silver Oak proved their prowess, showcasing a perfect balance of tradition and modernity. The collective creativity of the team made the entire presentation a showstopper in itself.

Next up, Steel Lifestyle’s “Groom Saga Chapter-2” delivered a striking take on men’s wedding fashion. The collection focused on the contemporary groom, combining classic sherwanis with modern Indo-Western cuts. Designers Sujay Shah and Kushal Shah presented an impressive array of options, ensuring that the modern man could exude both tradition and style. The designs were versatile, perfect for various wedding functions while maintaining an air of sophistication.

Sonani Jewels and Sims Studio brought an opulent collaboration to the ramp, blending the elegance of couture with the dazzle of jewellery. Sonani’s lab-grown diamonds stood out as a shining example of sustainability, paired with Seema Kalavadiya’s intricate designs from Sims Studio. From classic white stones to vibrant hues, the collection was a radiant showcase of bridal luxury. Showstopper Bhakti Kubavat shone in a stunning ensemble, embodying the glamour of this remarkable partnership.

Closing the first day on a whimsical note was Gopi Vaid’s “Bageecha” collection. A riot of floral motifs, vibrant embroidery and intricate craftsmanship, the collection drew inspiration from nature’s beauty. Delicate mirror work and bold gota patti adorned the garments, creating a garden-inspired aesthetic that was both refreshing and elegant. Showstopper Karishma Tanna brought the theme to life, twirling in a mesmerising floral creation.

Day one of Ahmedabad Times Fashion Week 2024 proved to be a dazzling fusion of tradition, sustainability and forward-thinking fashion. With more shows lined up, the excitement is only just beginning.

I am also grateful to all the Doctors and Medical Fraternity for making this happen”. A visibly very happy participant remarked, “Such free health camps should be organized frequently, so that rural people can avail the benefits of preventive healthcare. I appreciate the choice of organizers for selecting the place of worship as the site for this health camp. Attending a health camp at a place of worship has bestowed enormous faith among us for assessing best medical facilities at our doorstep free of cost. These camps have certainly motivated people to stay proactive about their health and make preventive health check-ups a part of their lifestyle”
